Each child in the class has a part in the play "The Day the Crayons Quit" which we will be performing for parents in June. It is a really cute story about the different colors in the crayon box, arguing over who is the favorite crayon. I have purchased hats for the students and they are making the rest of their costume. The kids love performing and practicing their parts has helped their reading, speaking and listening skills. They have also been practicing the songs in the play with the music teacher. In addition, we did an art project with melting crayons and painting on canvas that they are going to give their moms for Mother's Day. I had the funds to purchase the hats and art materials, but I would love to also give each child the book. I think they would love signing the book for their classmates as an end of the year keepsake. Unfortunately the books are not made in paperback for sale in the United States, and the hard back books are expensive.
