Our school has 786 students 86% ESOL. These students are learning English as a Second Language. This means they endure the struggles of being an elementary school student, while also trying to understand the complex curriculum. We also have a high rate of students from low socio-economic families. Sadly, many of these children will never experience things outside of Kissimmee, Florida. My hope is to help students begin to read for pleasure and create a healthy relationship with books. While our state focuses heavily on standardized testing, students and teachers continue to be burnt out. Students need a behavioral reward that is healthy for them. I would like to request your help in finding books for a book vending machine. It will be filled with books of various age ranges, genres, and languages to suit the needs of our kids. With your help, our school can welcome this innovative, inspiring product and begin reaping the benefits immediately!
