My students love to read, and they look forward to their independent reading time each day. Our classrooms are small, and we are limited to how we can fill our space. Currently, my students are reading at their desks, on crates, and on the floor around the room. My students are more focused and on task when they are given choices as to where they can work. By having the flexible floor seats, they will be excited to learn and engaged in their reading. During independent reading time, I run small group guided reading groups to reinforce skills and strategies that students may be struggling with. Currently, my students are sitting on uncomfortable, wobbly stools at my reading table. The stackable chairs are larger and more comfortable, which will improve their focus during small group learning. Our school is older and was originally built as a middle school. We do not have much storage space and the rooms can easily become crowded. I would use the 3-shelf storage unit to store my students' bins of reading bags. It is the perfect height for them to easily access to their materials.
