Students will use these magazine materials during their lessons to help increase reading skills across all subject areas (Reading, Math, Science, etc.). They will develop literacy skills through real world media experiences. Students will gain vocabulary knowledge as well as writing skills through various writing prompts. There is also a financial literacy piece that can be addressed through this as well. I will be able to assess student comprehension as well as help adjust instruction. Having various grade levels will allow the differentiation of instruction for those that need a lower level of reading material. I think it would be awesome to add these to the classroom library instead of just the same leveled readers we have over and over and allow the students to feel more independent. Time for kids is just another tool to help with building and creating readers for life.
