This technology will allow my students to publish their own books and present their writing in new and creative ways. This would be part of a unit specifically on narrative writing, wherein students would become the authors and practice in a variety of writing styles from poetry to short stories to drama. Kids in economically disadvantaged schools are not often incentivized for their imaginations, and that is both sad and unnecessary. These few items are small in isolation, but in my classroom, as part of a focused initiative to bring joy, purpose, and ownership back to writing, they will pay huge dividends with my students.
