These STEM materials will be made available for students mostly during their free choice time. This will allow students to explore and problem solve with their peers in a playful environment. Having a larger variety of items for students to create and explore with will give my students more opportunities to use their imaginations to create and problem solve. My students always have a lot of pride in what they have built and created. I am excited to see what they will come up with when they have new materials to use. Free choice time also provides opportunities for students to work alongside their peers. The social interaction of collaborating to build something together is extremely important. The opportunities to work out differences presents itself in a natural way and gives students a chance to develop their social and emotional skills.
