There is just something about being able to hold actual items and ones from space are beyond words. Students will discover that not all meteorites look the same and will also have the opportunity to compare the meteorites to some of the elements that make them. This hands-on experience will lead to an investigation into exploring frequencies of items from space entering our atmosphere and making it to earth as well as the variables that affect impact craters from meteorites. They may even inspire a lifelong scavenger hunt to find samples of their own. In the hands of students, binoculars will open a new view of the universe. Not only will students have the opportunity with their families to come out and explore the night sky throughout the year, but during the school day, students will learn how to safely turn the binoculars into a sun viewer. Furthermore, students will continue to engage in experiments with lenses and light to understand not only how these binoculars work, but how they compare to other binoculars and telescopes. There is nothing compared to the awe-inspiring feelings created by gazing into the sky. With this new experience, students will continue to grow their knowledge through research, virtual labs, more hands on experiences as the universe itself continues to grow.
