This project will provide a variety of fun math materials that will be used throughout the third grade year independently, in small groups and as centers. The materials will provide important hands-on learning that will encourage a deeper understanding of the concepts involved in multiplication. This chance to investigate on their own and with other students will help build confidence and guarantee fact mastery. Many of my students don't have someone to help them learn their facts. They need these materials in our classroom to ensure that they are successfully learning their facts! Our district, one of the lowest performing in the country, consistently scores very low on the Math standardized tests required by the state. I believe these Math manipulatives would not only provide a clearer avenue for learning but also give my students more opportunity to practice skills so desperately needed for success.
