My students need books that are deeply engaging, culturally diverse, and curiosity-piquing. I've chosen books for this project that I know will hook my students and get them interested. Students who struggle with speech and language often have barriers to their access of information in the classroom. In our smaller groups, we can dive deep into a text to specifically target student's needs to help them better access their classroom curriculum. Most of all, many of these books will help impart the idea that people can do anything if they believe in themselves. Many students who struggle with language and literacy have difficulty with negative self-talk too. I want to help build my student's speech and language skills and also encourage their self-esteem. These books will help me on that mission!
