During readers/writers workshop, I have the students sitting on the rug in close proximity to me, however, when I let them loose to work independently after the mini lesson or during IIR (Instructional Independent Reading), I like to give some seating freedom. Some students find that they are able to focus better while scattering themselves around the room. Unfortunately, I only have very limited options for my readers and writers that enjoy finding their own space away from their desk, as far as comfortable seating goes. How great would it be if I could give these students some other seating options to improve their focus, as well as the quality of their work?
