I am very lucky this year that I have access to the iPads everyday for two hours, but if the students need to type they have to use the screen keyboard. This is a very hard task for many of my students with disabilities. Being able to touch the keyboard physically is an important life skill for the students. We are requesting six iPad keyboards to help my students learn the essential skill of typing which will help them write their school reports and essays. The keyboards will make it so much easier for them to type their reports. I only have two desktops in my classroom, so having 15 students type their work is almost impossible. With the iPad keyboards, I will be able to have a typing center where my students will not just practice their typing skills but they will be able to do book reports or type essays. This will be so beneficial for my fifth graders because one of the standards that I must cover is to have them write five or more paragraphs.
