In my classroom I am empowering my students through choice. They select what to write and what to read and how to respond to their big ideas for problems in the world. However, we share a set of 24 computers between 6 English teachers. This means my students see technology once every other week, if we are lucky. I would like to offer my students the opportunity to see technology at least three times a week, while teaching them team skills. Students would be teamed together and complete their work completely through technology. No more paper and pencil for these students, who ultimately will need this technological skill set for college. With the ethnic diversity in my classroom, I would be setting up first generation students for success at a university as freshman.
