These materials will provide students with toys in their environment that they can relate to culturally. Playing with dolls and seeing replicas of themselves creates a warm and comfortable environment for all the students. The sensory materials provide both a calming activity and tactile stimulation for those that are defensive to textures. It is important to find activities that are both stimulating and educational at the same time. Sensory materials can also be used as a reward for completing a difficult or non-preferred task. I have chosen materials that would meet the needs of the students in all areas of development: motor skills, language, cognitive, social, and functional skills.
