In the fall, our team competes in the First Lego League. In the Spring, we compete in the WWII Museum robotics challenge. Both are similar and require months of work in order to prepare for. The robot has to be pre-programmed to accomplish missions on its own. The team spends long hours working on programming, building, art/presentations, and research. On top of that, they are also subjected to my extra physics lessons that help broaden their knowledge base in STEM. Students in this program attain a hands-on working knowledge of scientific concepts such as mechanical energy, energy transfer, gear ratio, friction, energy, momentum, force, acceleration, etc.
