During the 2018-2019 school year we have received for our students on or about 15 lice kits, leaving us without any to continue for the remainder of the school year. As a school, we want to assist our students and their families as much as possible. When available, lice kits are provided to students who come from low income households and would have difficulty buying the kits if not provided by the school. We are requesting lice kits, so no children have to miss school due to lice. How does having head lice hinder the students’ academic success you may ask? In many instances, students are sent home when live lice are found on their heads to prevent an outbreak. In addition, students may also get bullied by their classmates, making them feel rejected and emotionally hurt. When students are sent home due to head lice, he or she misses out on their academic instruction time, hence leading the student to fall behind and cause further frustration. Your donation will be to use to provide lice kits to our students and ensure students are focused on nothing more than learning when at school.
