In our first grade classroom, students come together for whole group learning. In fact, I often call out to go have a seat at carpet, but lack an actual carpet. This typically leads to stray children and mass chaos. They always seem to find themselves under desk tables or sitting too far to be described as engaged. Having a rug in our classroom will help my students keep focused on what we are learning and discussing, rather than where they are sitting or what they are sitting on. With this specific rug that we have chosen, my class will have the functionality of a designated space for whole group learning, but also have another resource to use for letter naming and formation.
