We are opening a STEM high school in Oklahoma. Our students will learn how to be "makers". We are going to challenge them to be creative when they complete projects and part of that creativity is learning to sew. In our maker space students will learn to 3D print, but we also want them to learn how to take fabric or leather and turn it into something they can be proud of. The measuring and 3d thinking involved in sewing is great for students who have struggled in math. This real world application of fractions and angles is a great way to solve problems in an authentic way.
