Good book series help students learn to love reading. When students stumble upon a book that they enjoyed, the first thing they ask is if there are more books like the one they just finished. For that reason, I try to have as many interesting book series in my classroom as possible. This year many of my students have read their way through Captain Underpants, Diary of a Minecraft Zombie, and the "I Survived" books. Because they are reading books they enjoy, many of my students' reading levels have increased drastically. The series listed are those that my students have asked for specifically. Mostly, they have read one or two of them from the school library, and want to continue with the series. Students in my classroom get 20 minutes of independent reading time every day. They also have to keep a nightly reading log for homework, so these books would get plenty of use.
