The following items will make a significant difference in my classroom. My students will be more engaged, accountable and will be given opportunities to have fun while learning. For example using language arts manipulative such as magnetic letters, and sight words games students are more likely to retain the information that they are learning through play. Through working in cooperating learning groups using these items they will then be more likely to transfer their knowledge as they begin reading books, and also strengthen their tactile skills. To add, the use of whiteboards will give each of them a chance to participate and be accountable for their learning. They will use this particular item during all subjects which includes Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies. It will also help me keep track of individual responses and determine who needs more help or review. I also finally have whiteboards for my guided math and reading groups to use. Lastly, using Math manipulatives such as geometric shapes, counters, money, mini clocks and Rekenreks will enable my students to create a connection to the real world and problems that they may encounter. To conclude, I plan to use these items as centers as well as guided math/reading tools. For example the magnetic letters will be used as centers to help students make sight words, rhyming words, and learn new phonics rules. I will also implement the various sight word game items as center activities as well as during my guided reading time. The same applies for Math manipulatives.
