Many of our students have experienced traumatic events and situations from young ages, making it difficult to cope in age-appropriate ways. Many times, a student's disruptive classroom behavior is indicative of a struggle to self-regulate. The Calm Room (which we call a "Mindful Me" room) allows our students a comfortable, quiet, and safe space to to calm down and regroup/refocus. Currently, our Mindful Me room feels bare and does not have the necessary materials to really create a comforting space. The requested materials will help create a room that can be a safe haven for students, allowing them a moment to self-regulate before going back to the learning environment.
