I am always looking for new and integrative ways to reach my students who "don't like to read". What I'm continuing to find is that most students don't hate reading at all, they simply need more support in building their confidence, stamina and vocabulary. They need books they are interested in, but are also challenging to them. I have several students who are reading two grades below reading levels they should be. These students struggle when they need to choose "little kid books" knowing they struggle to comprehend the same books as their peers. What I'm seeking to do is provide struggling students with grade level books to read while also listening to the audiobook version of the text on classroom ipads. This follow along option will allow for students feel included in classroom book discussions while also building their vocabulary, confidence and interest in reading.
