Given options to choose from helps students focus and learn. Hello, I am the Resource/Title 1 teacher at my school. Along with my Aides, we provide tier 2 and 3 support and intervention services for all those students who qualify for them at our elementary school. We utilize a push-in/pull-out system where we support students in their classroom or in a small group pull out. By providing the majority of our support and interventions in the classroom we are able to support more students, in working toward grade-level mastery, than in a strictly pull-out program. I am going to use flexible seating options to provide teachers and students with options in their classroom. This will allow teachers to try some different types of flexible seating in their classrooms for identified students. I have found working with students from kindergarten to 12th grade that when given the ability to choose a different seating option that is more stimulating or comfortable, that it has increased their ability to focus and complete work.
