If our students are given options, we experience more buy-in and can greater assist in the basic concept of learning as well as the deeper development of critical thinking. With greater encouragement in choosing their own work, our students feel better about what they are doing in the classroom and are more likely to dig in and get more out of the material. With these novels, I will be able to provide greater choice options for literature circles and in-class book clubs. This will help the students further their understanding of cultural concepts and encourage their own development of learning initiative. What more can you want from the students than to buy in and encourage themselves in their own learning?
