My students came to me with the attitude that reading is too hard and too boring. I made it my mission to change their minds and have seen progress with our limited flexible seating opportunities. However, only a few of my students are able to benefit from the resources we have now and an increase in flexible seating options would ensure all of my students have the same access to progress. I have some students with difficulty staying focused due to high energy and some sensory needs. Chair bands and wobbly stools would give them a way to release energy while remaining on task. As important as the seating choices are for my students, they also need tools specified towards making the actual act of reading easier. To help my students who often lose their place or get overwhelmed with long text while reading, reading trackers will help slow them down and keep them from skipping lines. To spark a love of reading in kids in the goal of any educator. Please help me do so in a way that meets their unique needs.
