These read-aloud books will support my students through helping them recognize all the various and fantastic experiences they get to share and learn from one another. These books help start discussions about immigration and disability, they serve as "mirrors" to students who all too often see only white children in classroom literature, and help my students think about kindness, fairness and other values in exciting ways. Each book is powerful, inspiring, beautiful, thought-provoking and developmentally appropriate. I have read all of these books individually and can enthusiastically vouch for their quality!
