We want our sixth graders to start the year with an exciting math and art based project that promotes inquiry, perseverance, and collaboration. Imagine walking in to your 6th grade math class on the first day of school and seeing a Rubik’s cube sitting on each desk. Our students will engage in valuable math practices while developing academic and emotional self-awareness during this project. Students will set personal goals for accomplishing individual tasks and also for working collaboratively as they look for patterns in mathematical reasoning. They will discover the joy of working toward and accomplishing goals that result in beautiful mosaics created out of Rubik’s cubes.
