I believe the materials I am asking for are going to help students recover from the trauma this pandemic has caused and help them to feel secure so they may begin to heal. For most of my students, life is much harder than it needs to be, but adding the stress that distance learning has caused them, I can't imagine what their mindsets are going to be like come the fall. I want to do everything I can to help them succeed in recovering. I am asking for materials to create "Calm Down Kits" for when students are feeling overwhelmed and need a break. The books I have chosen are to help encourage positive mental health and mindfulness practices. I am also asking for add-ons to furniture for students to be able to wiggle their bodies without disrupting others. All of these materials will help students to learn to self regulate their emotions and to feel safer in school.
