My students are a challenge. They challenge me to be inventive. Servicing 78 students in a low economic school district with varying needs and interests and backgrounds is a challenge. Knowing this, knowing that what I pour into them truly does make a difference, I want to help them find their voice. They should be proud of who they are and where they are from. They should stand tall and share their ideas. The gift of voice for them is something they can take with them through life. Students should feel empowered by their ideas and learn to value themselves and others. Life-long skills for communication and confidence create such an impact. My students would use this microphone to share their writing and ideas while developing listening skills. We also come together for circle time every week. The students share silly answers to silly questions, and then they share their fears, worries, greatest joys, and proudest moments as a family. This would be a trivial piece of the circle time puzzle solved.
