Our English Learners have two periods of ESL classes a day: one period of writing and one period of reading. As a new teacher, I am trying to build my classroom library to help students learn to love reading. We read at least two books as a class throughout the year. The rest of the year is dedicated to student choice. Students select books that interest them. I want students to see themselves in the stories they read and feel inspired to share their own stories. My students are all unique and have such special stories to share! By getting these books for my classroom, it will help with learning literacy skills, all while reading books that are relevant and interesting to my students.
