As a second year teacher, it is my desire to create a safe and comfortable learning atmosphere that is inclusive to all. In order to do this, I need a diverse library, flexible seating, and everyday classroom tools for organization. I have already started a large collection of books, but going the cheap route often means getting a more outdated and less diverse selection. A diverse collection helps ensure students see themselves in positive role models through literature. Additionally, flexible seating choices allow students to determine what drives their success and encourages making appropriate choices. This also includes chair bands and fidgets to assist with student focus. Finally, I am asking for a pencil sharpener and classroom mailboxes to help students stay organized and prepared.
