The books I'm requesting will help me establish mindful routines and practice right from the beginning of the school year by setting the right tone. They will assist in "training" the kids to use mindful practices when trying to manage difficult emotions which will in turn lead to more academic success for my kiddos! Sometimes we all need a moment to reconnect with our thoughts and emotions so we can continue our day in a productive way.The jars, glitter, and glue are to create "calm down jars". Each student will create one at the beginning of the year. When one of my kids is having a particularly stressful day, they will be able to grab their jar, shake it up, and de-stress by watching the glitter move and settle. These calm down jars will help my students do this in a soothing, nondisruptive way.
