Some of my students are in need of alternate modes of communication. This project will allow them to effectively express themselves with reduced frustration and obtain a better grasp of language goals. Low technology, such as visual aids or a PCS (picture communication system), will help reduce frustration and provide another outlet to express themselves. Unfortunately, I do not have the means to promote this type of system due to the lack of technology in my therapy room. A computer will allow me to install a specialized program that can create different types of visual aids for an individual child. An iPad will allow for a child to use different communication apps that target other specific language goals such as receptive language skills. It can also be utilized as a simple communication device to express their wants and needs through specific applications. This project will allow me to provide alternate modes of communication for some children, as well as target specific articulation skills and receptive language skills for others. Please consider in donating to this cause. These items will help my children tremendously reach their goals at a faster rate and reduce any level of frustration they may be experiencing.
