Computer applications are becoming an intricate part of speech therapy interventions. I will be incorporating these new and innovative applications into my therapy strategies. There are computer applications that target fluency shaping, helping students to reduce stuttering. Students speak into the ipad and get a graphic representation of the rate of their speech. There are many different applications for language intervention. Students in small groups of up to 4 students, take turns interacting with the application on various targets from identifying shapes to participating in social "scripts" to grammar usage. There are many new and exciting computer applications that target increasing students' speech and language skills. Technology is a fun and engaging way to increase students attention to learning new and sometimes challenging tasks.
