With the majority of my students coming from low income homes, the odds are against them because they might not have access to resources needed to develop a solid foundation to be successful learners. This may cause families, though not intentionally, to neglect providing a child with the skills needed to progress as learners. My obligation as a pre kindergarten teacher is to provide my students with age appropriate social and academic opportunities they will to be successful once they begin kindergarten. When a child enters kindergarten lacking the necessary skills to be successful, it becomes difficult to move him or her forward. With this project, my goal is to have 100 percent of my students ready for kindergarten. This includes introducing students to 21st century skills that are age appropriate and effective. I am requesting two iPads so my students can have access to technology during center time. My students are not fluent readers, however I can give them the opportunity to listen to read along books using apps like Epic that reads books to students. Hearing and seeing words will enhance their vocabulary and fluency once they are ready to transition into readers. My students can use the iPads for math skills like counting and learning shapes. Have two I-pads in the classroom will teach my students how to patient and what it means to share because everyone will not be able to use the devices when they want to. In addition the I-pads, I am requesting two Generation Case Covers to keep our devices safe from damage and extra charging cords. I am also requesting a classroom pencil sharpener, Dum Dum pops, to reward my students with a small sweet treat when sweet to their classmates. Thank you.
