The materials in our cart help guide instruction in the areas of social emotional, communication, and self-regulation which are the 3 core deficits in children with Autism. The adapted seating options were selected to increase participation in small and large group instruction. The activities focusing on sequencing, sorting, and stacking will be used for each student's individual work tasks which promote functional play skills and on task behavior. The positive behavior books and feeling match puzzles will be used to teach replacement behaviors, help manage feelings, and model ways to self- regulate. Our classroom team has put a lot of time and dedication into creating materials out of household items to promote the skills listed above; however, we would love to be able to provide them with new and improved classroom manipulatives.
