This is my first year teaching the pre-K level, and I have been working on collecting a variety of materials and books for my lessons. I just started implementing themes through my weekly lessons, and found it has worked great with the kids; they are more engaged and excited with this holistic approach, with everything (classroom decorations, math and writing activities, mini-lessons, books, puppets, songs, etc.) coming together to reinforce concepts. These kids learn best with a lot of repetition, so this has worked great for them. I'm hoping to get these bins organized so that next year our themes will be more coherent, hands-on and widespread throughout our weekly lessons.
