Since we have been quarantined I have not been able to provide hand-on activities because some students do not have some of the materials. in the past most of our lessons ended with the student having a hands-on component. This activity sealed the lesson in their minds and will give them a lasting memory. We have a unit coming up on 3D shapes. With the molding clay, students will be able to create their own shapes that we discuss in our online class. With the LEGO blocks, they will be encouraged to build different objects that we discuss and use in class, just as I have. I created a holder for my phone to display in items that assist with instruction. They loved this! I want to encourage them to do the same. Earlier in the year, we used puzzles to celebrate the 100th day of school they loved them so much I sat puzzles out weekly for students to work on as they took take mental breaks and to calm down. We have been doing virtual field trips every Friday since the quarantine started. One field trip we did was a tour of my person vegetable/flower garden. Many of the students express and interest in wanting to start their own. All the supplies will be used as extension activities for previous lessons that have been taught creating a lasting positive memory during a time where student miss their teachers and friends. It will also create a sense of togetherness because we will all be doing the activities at the same time.
