By purchasing these items, our students will be able to continue to learn and practice their independent living and vocational skills. Learning how to be as independent as possible is a critical goal for our students with exceptionalities. Having the appropriate equipment to teach a variety of skills is very important. We used to have a hand-me-down vacuum that broke late last spring. This will be our first new vacuum and we intend to make it last for several school years through dilignet maintentance and care so that our students can continue to practice this simple yet important skill. We also need more lights for our classroom pets and plants! Our classroom-based pets program has has exanded so much in the past year. It has lead to enjoyment for so many students inside and out of the classroom. The program has even helped one student get a real job in an actual pet store! We need the lights to continue to meet the needs of our animals and plants. This is also an important leisure skill for our students to learn.
