In our classroom we spend a week going over all the classic nursery rhyme books and complete activities that go along with each of them. My students love learning the nursery rhymes and will love even more these hands on STEM related activities. These STEM problem solving kits and puppets will help give the students a visual and allow them to have hands on time to create their own versions of the story which will increase their vocabulary skills and social skills by interacting in small groups, and their problem solving skills by allowing them to solve the problems in the nursery rhymes for themselves and giving them ownership of the project. For example, these STEM problem solving kits allow the students to construct the scenes from the nursery rhymes and create different endings if they desire. Being able to get a deeper understanding of the nursery rhymes and have a visual will allow them to build their prior knowledge and have a larger vocabulary when they begin learning to read.
