Flexible seating is an innovative game changer in today's educational classrooms. Teachers work so hard to differentiate our lessons to help ALL students, so why shouldn't we also differentiate our seating options? Kindergarten students are naturally energetic, curious kids who struggle to focus for long periods of time. Add in a few learning disabilities and an unstimulating classroom environment and it makes it almost impossible for them to get the most out of their independent work time. Providing options to move while working increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. However flexible seating is so much more than that. Flexible seating empowers young students to be self aware of their individual needs and helps them to choose the best seating option for their unique brains and bodies. We are doing our students a huge disservice by making all of their choices for them. Outside of our classrooms is a fast-paced, complicated, and always changing world. We cannot expect students to solve problems and lead others if we constantly do it for them. Students will have multiple seating choices available to them. Work best laying on your stomach? Great! Need to bounce up and down? Wonderful! Want to stick to a typical chair and desk? We can make that happen! By supporting this project you are helping students become more productive leaders who can get the most out of their education.
