These materials will be used to expand our school hydroponic lab, and enhance our newly acquired global citizen initiative. Students will design their own sustainable hydroponic and aquaponic systems using the engineering process. Through hands-on science lessons, they will learn the life cycle and functions of plant parts as well as the nutritional value of a variety of international edible plants and learn the relationship between plants and animals. All plants that are harvested will be used in school activities such as, cooking club, creating medicinal plant products (ie basil bug repellant lotion), and a farm-to-table community banquet.
