Students will read the book in class. The book will be used as a part of bigger unit covering water scarcity. The book will help being in an ELA crossover in the class. Once they have read the book, they will write a reflection and brainstorm solutions to the water crisis. They will then look at how children around the world get their water and the how clean the water the is. They will finish the project by creating water filters (STEM project). My students favorite part of this was the simulation of carrying a bucket. The students realized that they could not do what Nyah did everyday. For many of the students it gave them a greater appreciation for the water they have. They began to look at ways to conserve water in their everyday lives
