Let's face it, not everyone loves math the way that I do. But what my students do love is coming to my class. Now that I've got them hooked on me, I need to get them hooked on math. I need them to see the importance of math and how it can be applied in so many ways in their lives. One way to continue to grow their communication and critical thinking skills as it relates to math is by reading and writing about math. I want to start math clubs in my classes to foster an excitement about the math world at large. Through lots of research and asking my colleagues, I have found many high-interest, grade-appropriate fiction and non-fiction books that highlight math. With your generosity, my students will be able to see that math can be both fun and useful.
