This project has two goals: To allow all of my students to see themselves represented in the literature in our classroom library, and to see positive examples of how they can deal with the social emotional issues that they face day to day. There are so many new, exciting, and relevant books representing the growing diversity of the students in our schools, as well as books that address our students' social emotional needs in an age appropriate way. I would like my students to see themselves and others reflected in the books we read. In addition, my 2nd graders have been through a difficult and stressful time during this Covid era. Their social emotional needs are bigger than ever, and I feel a need for more resources to help my students build their resilience during these difficult times.
