Donors were generous enough to donate sleeping bags for our campers. Having the tents will enable us to keep children safe and out of the elements for our camping experience. For many of them, this is their first time camping and we want it to be an adventure they will never forget. These students rarely get to experience life outside of school or their neighborhoods. During our camping trip, students will have the opportunity to learn more about the local habitats, which they have been studying in Science. They will participate in community clean up projects, identify various plants that are and are not indigenous to our environment, and how to camp safely including cooking, fire starting, and setting up a campsite. This camping trip has increased their interest in subject areas across the board. We will be using math and writing during various activities while we are camping. The students are excited for their adventure and I cannot wait to watch them experience it!
