I am requesting a carpet, wobble chairs, balance ball and beanbag seats. Students in our self-contained behavioral focused unit have a multitude of exceptionalities. Some have lots of energy or anxiety. Some struggle to maintain calm bodies when they reach points of anger or frustration. Flexible seating will allow my busy bodies to focus their minds while they use the wobble stools or bounce chairs to exert physical energy. A respite corner with comfortable seating and a rug will present my students with an area to rest their minds and bring themselves back into a regulated emotional state, so they can return to their academics ready to learn.
