The items I am seeking are to support a room that some students attend to remove themselves from the larger population. The purpose of this safe, inviting place to help guide students with life situations that are interfering with traditional learning. The items I am requesting serve different purposes, but ultimately, will allow students to get back into a learning mode that works for them. Students have different levels of support in this alternate setting which includes a "chill corner" and also more traditional learning spaces. The idea is to meet students where they are at to help them be successful. Specifically, the space needs flexible seating areas and manipulative material used to relieve stress (i.e. stress balls, salt lamps, essential oils, a diffuser, and fluorescent light covers). The students will benefit in this environment as it will be a small group arrangement with the learning materials in place with fewer distractions. There will be work areas with charging stations as we are a 1:1 school and each student has a device but it's common for the devices to be left uncharged. The room is supervised by a certified teacher and students identified as at-risk. The ultimate goal is to help students get back on track after falling behind for various reasons (mental health, illness, and school transfer to name a few).
