Students have a hard time understanding that shapes have attributes and those attributes are what make that shape/figure special. Using paper and pencil, students can draw the shape but they never grasp the concept that shapes have certain angles and that there are special sides to some of the shapes. These tools have multiple colored pieces that allow student to understand some of the geometric vocabulary, such as congruent, parallel, perpendicular, opposite, acute, obtuse, and right. Math vocabulary is hard: many times, the word is used in English but when used in math it can have a total different meaning. This would benefit my English language learners, they will be using English words and learning that many of them have special meaning when spoken in math.
