Research has shown that hands-on, tactile, kinesthetic learning experiences enhance learning in young children. Increasing my students' exposure to manipulative materials will enhance their concept development, particularly students with developmental delays. Daily small group and individual learning experiences will be designed around these manipulative materials. Children will intrinsically learn new concepts as they play and explore with a variety of hands-on activities. The kinesthetic and bilateral aspect of their interaction with different materials will enhance brain development. Children remember best what they actively do with their hands and when multiple senses are employed during active engagement with a variety of materials.
