When students are given a choice, they feel like they have a say in what is happening, and they should. When they feel comfortable, they are less worried about how they are feeling and they are ready to work hard. Some students need something softer to sit on due to their sensory needs. I look forward to the chance of getting to share new seating options with my students. They will get a choice of where to sit each day. Everyone will get a turn to pick where they sit first. Most children usually pick a different spot each day. Having more choices of where to sit than I currently do will give the students more ownership of their classroom.
